    A fantastic building with three apartments on the outskirts of Bern, Switzerland was the winner in 2010 Passivhaus Architecture. Built by the architect Peter Schurch, the principle of Hall 52, breaking molds for building a passive house design combines a lot of glass – more than 50% of the facade – but still achieve a tight 13kWr energy consumption per square meter per year.

    Natural and local materials, natural daylight and a unique mark has made awards in the shoe – actual construction cost less to build than other houses around here, but it has a r-52 walls and green roofs solar electricity.

    The third apartment was decorated with lots of nearly identical to the natural light thanks to a triple bank-glass window to strike the side porch. Nice touches such as the architect added a sustainable green roof, lined with solar panels, a pellet boiler for heating floors and warm water, and feel of wood on the porch outside to reduce the summer heat.

    This building also received Minergie (minimum energy) certification, which is a low power consumption standard is much stricter than the Swiss colleagues in the U.S. LEED. Pie is a departure from the trail Passivhaus typical construction, so that almost the effect of the solarium on the one hand and the cheap building a variety of individual life.

    Formulation and the layer is made of wood from local forests, and air quality are supported by careful choice of finish and heat recovery ventilator – the heart of Passivhaus design. This balanced and wise to give strong evidence that green building is feasible and affordable, if we set our minds to it.
