Environmentally friendly new buildings seem a little harsh. But it must be placed in context: “inspired by the black stone and white snow in the Alps of Switzerland,” it seems almost true. Designed in partnership with Swiss architects Rüssli company, the official residence for the ambassador of Switzerland in Washington DC.
Instead, the team’s residence is designed in accordance with Swiss standard “Minergie”, which says that we exceed the requirements of LEED certifications. The project incorporates Passive Solar in the south and a green roof, keeping power consumption low.

The building’s design is based on diagonal movement through the next room, around overlapping cross plan – providing Washington Monument seen through the development.
And how the black stones and Snow White? These documents provide color and contrast of textures against one another.
Charcoal-colored concrete to, sandblasting glass panels structurally. White walls and black terrazzo counter the rich, dark bamboo floors.
